We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of a


Regional Medical Affairs Director - Oncology (m/f/x) 


The Position:

The primary role of the MSC Regional Medical Affairs Director Oncology is to provide the functional leadership and strategic framework to the Medical Managers in our mid-sized countries that are currently Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, and Turkey. He/she will ensure the implementation of the Regional Oncology Medical Affairs strategy(s) to support the regional and local business plans and conduct all relevant medical affairs activities within the proper compliance and regulatory framework, ethical standards and company procedures.

He/She will be responsible for the facilitating and coordinating of Oncology medical activities in the MSC cluster and will play a key role in the implementation of Molecule plans and Launch plans in alignment with the MSC Regional Business Unit Head Commercial Ops. Oncology & Biologics.

The role has the Medical Managers in the countries reporting to him/her dotted (solid to the country BUH).


The position is preferably based in one of our Mid Sized Countries or our European Headquarter in Munich.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide functional guidance and support the local Medical Managers in line with company strategies, procedures and specifications
  • Identify and translate scientific materials, documents, publications, and data to pragmatic actionable tools required to improve the scientific exchange between our customers and local medical teams
  • Be the link between DSE-Medical Onco and Affiliate MSC Onco Medical, representing the voice of the affiliates and timely engage affiliates key international matters and decision making
  • Working closely with the Oncology Business Unit Heads (BUHs) and the Medical Manager in each country:
    • Establish and maintain scientific relationships with local medical teams and develop a strong understanding of territory specific healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care, disease management, treatment protocols, and research interests.
    • Support the definition of the country Medical Plans, in alignment with the Regional Medical Strategy, to achieve TA Scientific Objectives
    • Develop and support a network of local/regional key opinion leaders and key decision makers 
    • Responsible for collection, selection and cross-country sharing of insights and best practices to improve the outcome of customer engagement
    • Support the initiation, development, and implementation of clinical trials and registries as planned by the medical team at a Global/Regional/local stage
    • Develop and implement the Mid-Sized-Countries annual medical plan in close collaboration with country teams and aligned with European medical plans
    • Support the recruitment and development of the medical colleagues in the mid-size countries
    • Participate in the affiliate DS-AZ Alliance Joint Steering Committee where appropriate 


Professional experience and personal skills:

  • Medical Doctorate (M.D.), Ph.D. or PharmD qualified with appropriate therapeutic specialty in an academic or hospital environment within oncology. 
  • Thorough understanding of the MSL and Medical Manager roles within the pharmaceutical industry in European Countries.
  • Significant experience leading and developing medical affairs or MSL teams of highly skilled and motivated individuals. 
  • Good knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory requirements, Early Access Programs, clinical research modalities including Phase IV, IIS, RWE, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills by acting as a role model for implementation of plans and tasks on commitment in time
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a multicultural and multilingual environment, both within and outside the EU 
  • Experienced in stakeholder management and matrix working
  • Willingness to travel according to business needs
  • Fluent in English, oral and written communication
  • Additional language skills are a plus
