Purpose of the function
 


In this position you are the oncology scientific expert for different therapeutic areas. You will support the clinical development of mainly early phase molecules and provide input to guide the medical and brand strategy in the pre-launch and launch phase. This is a mixed position mainly based on MSL activities (60% in the field) combined with office-based activities (for example: stakeholder mapping, literature review, advisory board organization, educational projects, etc.). You work in close collaboration with the Head of Medical Affairs Oncology.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Be the topnotch medical and scientific expert
    • Demonstrate in depth scientific knowledge on current and future products and has sound therapy area expertise, updated on the latest scientific information and guidelines
    • Provide support for assigned products by delivering relevant scientific and technical training for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist with the scientific review, development, approval, execution and communication of affiliate medical affairs sponsored or supported clinical research activities.
    • Act as medical expert in interactions with external stakeholders.
  • Internal and external collaboration (incl. Alliance Partners when appropriate)
    • Identify, map, build and maintain professional and credible relationships with medical and scientific opinion leaders and relevant medical societies
    • Communicate the scientific value of our oncology products to internal and external stakeholders and have a customer centric approach
    • Support R&D and clinical development team with product pipeline
    • Strong interaction with legal and compliance to ensure the non-promotional character of medical activities
  • Contribute to local (medical) affairs strategies for assigned products by sharing field insights with the local cross functional team from discussions with the main/key stakeholders and therapeutic areas
    • Contribute to the positioning of newly marketed products as a member of the brand team
    • Responsible for the delivery of strategic medical projects within budget in a timely manner
    • Drive educational initiatives (medical education, data, guidelines and value proposition)
  • PV and quality responsibilities:
    • Identify and report safety information (such as complaints, adverse events) to the pharmacovigilance department.
    • Adhere to the Quality Management System of Daiichi Sankyo Belgium

 

Professional experience & Education

 

 

  • Scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, other scientific degree)
  • Experience as MSL or other roles in Medical Affairs/R&D is preferred
  • Background in oncology is highly recommended
  • Experienced in communicating with medical-scientific opinion leaders
  • Ability to work in a matrix and multicultural organization
  • Good understanding on local laws and procedures
