IT Business Partner (Business Relationship Manager) (m/f/x)



The position:


The IT Business Partner (Business Relationship Manager) is responsible for the stakeholder management of global organization units across Europe and ensures, that the relevant IT services for the assigned business units delivered "End to End". As proactive partner to the business teams the candidate collaborates on strategic planning and share ownership for the creation and realization of business value from IT perspective. 



Roles and responsibilities:


Strategic Partnering:


  • Partners with business teams to plan new IT investments, evaluate proposals and determine fit with business roadmaps and priorities focusing on business value from IT perspective

  • Evaluate and discuss business strategy plan and share those within IT to identify potential IT strategy, landscape and project portfolio impact and evaluate business projects with potential impact on IT

  • Develop and enhance a positive relationship with business, actively manage expectations & monitoring and improving satisfaction levels




  • Provides timely, responsive, and accurate advice to business partners to ensure healthy and productive relationships are sustained

  • Actively support the Demand Management Process by intense communication with business, periodic review of the demand pipeline, clarification of detailed requirements, support the creation of business cases and business impact analyses and by coordinating the high-level solution design

  • Apply business process management methods to support the design of new processes, guide process redesign, optimizations, and documentation. Develop and promote process governance

  • Align and engage with business unit & other IT Business Partners (Business Relationship Managers) about the overall prioritization of the IT project/portfolio

  • Engage the IT project/portfolio management to ensure a properly prioritized and well-managed Demand/Project implementation




  • Ensures, that the relevant IT services for the assigned business units delivered "End to End"

  • Define and agree on Service level agreements (SLA´s) to/with business in alignment with IT. Report KPI´s and SLA achievement and manage violations or major service issues. Act as escalation instance towards business

  • Ensure that regular status update and service review meetings are conducted with business representatives to review service performance against the agreed service levels and to exchange information about ongoing projects and new demands

  • Engage with the relevant IT Service Managers, the IT Delivery Leadership Team, and IT Architecture responsible to manage the service lifecycle and TCO (total cost of ownership) aligned with the business/technology roadmaps


Personal skills and professional experience:


  • University Degree or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and 5-8 years of experience in equivalent position on business or IT side

  • Very strong customer and service focus

  • Ability to analyze very complex situations in unknown environments

  • Strong communication, collaboration, presentation skills

  • Good experience of managing relationships with internal business customers at all levels

  • Ability to work in English - fluent English and German, written and spoken 

  • Intercultural competence and strong social skills

  • Ability to set expectations with business partners and leverage governance for a positive business partner experience

  • Strategic thinking and ability to map organizational visions

  • Ability to manage conflicts and solving problems

  • Leading changes using positive and collaborative methods

  • Prioritization skills and experience

  • Seniority in managing internal and external suppliers

  • Good knowledge of related business processes and technology trends for central business functions in a European/global organization
