Executive Director Cardiovascular (m/f/x)


The Position:

This new position within the European Medical Affairs Edoxaban team will be responsible for the coordination of data generation, publications and data dissemination strategies for Edoxaban in Europe, assuring cross functional alignment and strategic implementation.


Coordination and strategic oversight of the European CMD assuring strategic guidance is a key aspect of the position.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • The position is responsible for the strategic coordination and design of the data generation activities for Edoxaban with a strong focus but not limited to RWE initiatives, overseeing the interpretation, publication/public disclosure, and accurate use of scientific data for Daiichi Sankyo marketed compounds
  • Oversee and assume responsibility for the planning, timely implementation, and tracking of all activities of the field-based Medical organization to ensure full and appropriate utilization of the group
  • Ensure that all activities of the field-based organization are in compliance with all regulations, governing laws and Daiichi Sankyo
  • Ensure that the scientific content for medical communication and scientific education initiatives conducted by the field-based Medical Group are in alignment with the content provided by Clinical Research and/or Professional Affairs
  • Develop and oversee a mechanism by which scientific opportunities and data identified by the field-based Medical Group are captured and sent to the appropriate functional areas within Daiichi Sankyo in order to maximize the use of the information
  • Ensure optimal coordination of field-based scientific communication and effort with co-promotion partner(s) to meet contractual agreement
  • Amongst other ongoing initiatives in the European team these position will be also part of the core CV team in the European organization, also participating in the development and implementation of the Global and Regional Medical Affairs Plan for Edoxaban, European medical-scientific communication plan and will be a key strategic driver of the Edoxaban European publication plan


Professional experience and personal skills:

  • We are looking for someone who has a Medical Degree, ideally additional training and board certification in Cardiology
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience within the pharmaceutical and/or clinical research industry, and minimum 2 years experience in a Medical Director, ideally in the cardiovascular area
  • Candidate needs to be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English and one other European language. IT literacy (standard applications) is required
  • A pro-active Medical Affairs professional and understand Medical Affairs as a function which is predominantly focused on patient access to our products is required.
