Head of European Shared Service (m/f/x)

 

 

The position:

 

The ESS Head will perform and deliver quality general accounting through shared services in a consistent manner, while striving for continuous improvement and providing reliable information that allows stakeholders to confidently focus on their primary business objectives.
The successful candidate will drive value added by ensuring that all ESS finance functions and services are performed effectively, in accordance with Service Level Agreements, internal policies and with effective internal controls. 
They will take full ownership of a transactional finance team and the European accounting professionals preparing, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts and financial statements including balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules preparing statutory accounts for the subsidiary companies.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare, record, analyze and report accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
  • Manage end-to-end accounting processes and prepare statutory accounts, financial statements and reports for subsidiary companies
  • Analyse accounts and investigate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner
  • Ability to manage transformation projects and initiatives specifically in areas of robotic automation in finance and shared services set up and design towards a target operating model by continually evaluating capabilities and solutions that will drive efficiencies and result in a best-in-class finance operation
  • Monitor, analyse and publish appropriate KPIs to support collaborative service quality acceptance with detailed analytics for stakeholders to provide performance insights

 

 

Personal skills and professional experience:
 

  • Successful track record of delivering finance shared services in a multi-country organization with related KPI reporting and tracking experience
  • Strong people management experience of working in a shared service environment
  • Process improvement, process redesign, issue resolution and knowledge migration
  • Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent combination of education, professional qualification and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in SAP environment and implementing solutions designed for SAP including best-of-breed sidecars
  • 3+ years’ experience in process mapping, optimization and solution implementation
  • Creative thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder management with excellent communication skills
  • Established people manager with demonstrable coaching and leadership qualities, able to grow and develop a high standard team and influence effectively
