IT Application Service Manager (m/f/x)

Purpose of the Role:

The IT Applications Service Manager is a function that will be situated in the IT department, the purpose is to be "end to end" responsible for all Business IT Applications and services that are in the responsibility area. The responsibility is covering the application service management, ensuring at all times high availability, quality and seamless operation; this includes incident, change and service managment.  The responsible person will act as a focal point for communicating with business key users regarding all system problems, changes, fixes, and updates and collaborates with other teams and vendors on required relevant basis. 



  • Provide oversight and management to the IT Applications and deliver high quality IT service

  • Act as a focal point for communicating related system problems within the department and collaborates with other teams and vendors on changes, fixes, and updates

  • Ensure creations of system architecture, application and related serive proceses are documented and maintained in the ITSM and CMDB.  Ensure all documentation is kept up-to-date

  • Define and agree on Service level agreements (SLA´s) to/with business in alignment with IT Applications Services Strategy and Report KPI´s and SLA achievement and manage violations or major service issues. Act as escalation instance towards business

  • Set and measure performance objectives for self and provide regular feedback to all members of the team. Share knowledge and best practices with all team members and make recommendations to line manager for further improvements

  • Support Demand Implementation Phase: Takeover coordinator role (act as PM for medium size Demands) and coordinate solution implementation with internal and external resources or implement changes in person in exceptional cases          

  • Align with Business Unit & other Business Relationship Managers about the overall prioritization of the project portfolio 

  • Manage vendor relationship and work closely with external partners and vendors to ensure optimal service delivery

  • Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures that are compliant with industry and regulatory policies, including GxP related

  • Manage service lifecycle in co-operation with the relevant IT Peers and the IT Budget Manager: Have a roadmap prepared and approved, guarantee its realization

  • Evaluate and define service maintenance & release windows and align with IT Change Management and IT Service / Delivery Manager                                

  • Work within the ITIL framework 



  • Very strong customer and service focus

  • Ability to analyze very complex situations in unknown environments

  • Good experience of managing relationships with internal business customers

  • Prioritization skills and experience

  • Seniority in managing internal and external suppliers

  • Good knowledge and general understanding of typical Business IT Applications Landscape and Infrastructures

  • Good knowledge of ITIL standards

  • General knowledge of latest relevant information technology trends
