IT Data Infrastructure Manager (m/f/x)


Purpose of the function:

The Infrastructure Manager’s role is to plan, organize, and manage the overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s BI and data infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly cloud based data and BI infrastructure including integration of cloud and on premise infrastructure, various data technologies and data tools integration and management.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Managing, maintaining and optimizing the Data and BI Architecture 
  • Assessing system performance and making recommendations for hardware, software, and data storage improvements
  • Put strong monitoring systems in place to ensure proactive maintenance and issue resolution
  • Ensure data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving and operationalizing these integrated and reusable data pipelines
  • Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures 
  • Maintaining data management plans and instructions for operating complex business systems
  • Developing standards of operation when handling and archiving data 
  • Working with and supporting the Data Solution Architect in designing, developing, and modifying data infrastructure to accelerate the processes of data analysis and reporting
  • Aid in the analysis of data and analytics security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) and Data Solution Architect  to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as protected assets
  • Drive Automation through effective metadata management: Take responsibility to establish modern tools, techniques and architecture to partially or completely automate the most-common, repeatable and tedious data preparation and integration tasks in order to optimize data handling and quality
  • Manage external data suppliers, partners and consultants
  • Plan budget for  the management, maintenance, enhancements of the data infrastructure along with the line manager and the data solution architect
  • Manage the data infrastructure budget 

 

Personal skills and professional experience:

  • Ability to analyze very complex situations in unknown environments
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex problems using non-technical terms 
  • Strong collaboration and presentation skills
  • In-depth understanding of modern data and analytics tools, processes and cloud data Infrastructure
  • Prioritization skills and experience
  • Seniority in managing internal and external suppliers
  • Good knowledge of business processes and data needs in an organization
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work towards meeting multiple deadlines simultaneously 
  • Good knowledge of data governance, compliance and security in particular GDPR
  • Experience of designing and implementing information solutions
