For our German Daiichi Sankyo Oncology Organization we are seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position:

Health Care Development Manager Oncology (m/f/x) - Germany, Region Hessen, Sachsen-Anhalt

The Position:

As part of our commitment for patients and healthcare professionals, Daiichi Sankyo is developing new innovative treatments for Oncology. The Health Care Development Manager Oncology works as part of the Daiichi Sankyo European Oncology team and will define and drive overall operational & leadership for the Oncology late & early stage (>Ph2) products, focused on achieving launch & market access preparedness on a hospital level. The HDM Oncology will actively contribute to drive early and extensive engagement of KOL's and other key external stakeholders (ie payors) to create a receptive environment for DS Oncology assets.


Key responsibilities:

1. Effectively engage with relevant stakeholders and organizations across relevant Healthcare entities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes

  • Develop/keep up-to-date in close collaboration with the NAM oncology a deep understanding and mapping of the relevant stakeholders (mapping and individual drivers) and the relevant commissioning and funding processes
  • Develop strong relationships with identified target stakeholders on the basis of trust and perceived added value to the customer in the form of personal expertise
  • Identify and implement population-based projects to help to establish Daiichi Sankyo as a trusted partner in Oncology and improve patient outcomes
  • Drive pre-launch strategies and input into development of budget impact models and market access tools and ensure advance budgetary notification
  • Clearly identify key formulary decision makers and able to positively influence relevant formularies, policies or treatment protocols in favor of Daiichi Sankyo

2. Develop and implement an integrated local Access & Account plan

  • Develop a territorial pre-launch access and account strategy plan, with an overall foundational objective to connect customer and patient needs with Daiichi Sankyo Oncology brands
  • Able to effectively identify stakeholder needs to gain Market access at hospital / regional level including managed entry strategies
  • Identify, segment and prioritize target stakeholders and target accounts that are most important to drive business outcomes

3. Coordinate the deployment of resources locally within the framework of a local Market Access/Key Account Plan

  • Drive resource allocation for the respective territory within the budget planning process in close collaboration with the MSL and the National Access Manager Oncology

4. Operate effectively within a Key Account Management process to ensure delivery of Market Access and Performance

  • Have a clear understanding and record of all current relevant formularies, treatment protocols across the Territory and the process and decision-makers involved in their formulation or amendment
  • Maintain an accurate picture, profile and records of all key stakeholders, leaders, decision-makers and influencers within each account on their geography

5. Ensure that personal expertise in terms of market, competitive and healthcare environments are maintained & updated to enable effective decision-making, customer engagement and optimal performance across the Territory

  • Take personal ownership for maintaining an expert understanding of all relevant clinical, access and HEOR related information for Daiichi Sankyo Oncology brands, competitors and therapeutic areas as well as the dynamic Health Care environment
  • Contribute to building up profound understanding of funding infrastructure and relevant policy makers; to that aim drive constant knowledge transfer across the National Oncology team, in particular with the National Access Manager Oncology
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all Company processes and SOPs and remain compliant at all times
  • Proactively seek to understand competitor activities, strategies and programs and ensure that this competitive intelligence is shared broadly within the organization
  • Make effective use of all Company development resources to drive personal development and expertise in line with agreed Personal Development Plan
  • Make full use all Company information systems and business tools to aid account planning and informed customer engagement


Professional experience and personal skills:

  • In addition to the industry and functional experience in account management, the incumbent should bring a demonstrable knowledge of  medical affairs, market access and pricing/reimbursement
  • Specific commercial experience in launching Oncology therapeutics and managing complex accounts
  • Demonstrated success in commercial planning and launching products
  • Proven ability to successfully work within a Matrix environment and project management skills
  • Proven knowledge of key customers and key influencers in Oncology in the respective territory is a plus
  • Strong management qualities with the ability to lead a territory strategy project and create a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication, constructive conflict and a hands on mentality
  • Broad cultural orientation, experience of working in an international environment and English on a proficiency level
  • Aptitude in influencing, gaining consensus, and overcoming resistance by presenting a powerful case for implementing new initiatives
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, displaying candor and authenticity at all times
