The Medical Affairs Manager provides MSL team leadership according to relevant ethical and legal rules. The Medical Affairs Manager coaches the MSLs to demonstrate mastery and innovation in the ability to develop on-going professional relationships with national and regional healthcare opinion leaders and healthcare professionals and to provide medical and scientific support for Daiichi Sankyo initiatives in selected therapeutic areas. Within the agreed strategy, the MSL educates healthcare professionals, Daiichi Sankyo internal colleagues (e.g. Medical, Marketing, and Sales), and decision makers in healthcare systems regarding therapeutic areas and related products and services developed and commercialized by Daiichi Sankyo. The MSL identifies and establishes networks for most effective and efficient medical-scientific communication. The Medical Affairs Manager ensures the medical affairs plan is developed and implemented in the field, in line with budget and product strategy.

Technical/professional Knowledge:


Essential –

  • A scientific degree in one or more of the following disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, nursing or pharmaceutical/life sciences.
  •  Experience in people management is required.
  •  Ability to perform effortlessly as a member of the management team of a small affiliate with a can do attitude and a strong sense of leadership and presence displayed at all times.
  •  Experience of working in a similar field based role, clinical research or other similar role where you have strong evidence of leading healthcare professional interactions. Experience of presenting complex scientific information to HCPs at varying levels including Thought Leaders
  •  Strong commercial acumen, facilitating the strategic alignment of company goals and achievement of target with KOL activities, ensuring that KOL/OL interactions are approached in a manner and direction which facilitates the overall company objectives.
  •  Ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new therapy areas and environments.
  •  Knowledge of the Dutch Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of the CGR code and Dutch regulations.
  •  Full driving licence
  •  Competent user of Microsoft Office software products
  •     Fluent in dutch and english

Desirable –

  • A PhD is preferred.
  •  Experience of working in the cardiovascular market
  •  Advanced presentation skills
