Market Access & Government Affairs Manager

The Market Access Manager ensures the Market access of new and existing products through the achievement of the best Pricing & Reimbursement conditions. He/she manages the life cycle of existing products. He/she ensures the national and local access. Local access is in close cooperation with the field teams. The Market Access Manager actively participates in the Leadership Team meetings on an agenda driven basis. 


This position reports to the Country Manager. 



Roles and Responsibilities


Define the national DSNL Product Market Access (PMA) strategy and oversee its implementation to maximize market access and brand performance

Core activities include but are not limited to:

  • Define the national market access strategy and set objectives. Also, at a regional levels with the Field Teams for Field Market Access.
  • Plan market access scenario for new products
  • Ensure national market access strategy and objectives are effectively aligned with the business and medical leads and cross-functional commitment is achieved
  • Develop customized product value propositions and messages in line with global product value story
  • Develop the core value dossier for Daiichi Sankyo products
  • Lead the full reimbursement process with key external stakeholders including VWS, ZIN, ACP, NZA.
  • Lead the full renegotiation process and strategy for existing brands with key external stakeholders including VWS, ZIN, ACP, NZA.
  • Secure optimal internal, national and international stakeholder management.
  • Regularly monitor implementation of national market access strategy and national and regional plans and achievement of set objectives     


Develop pricing strategies that maximize product uptake and performance, and continued reimbursement

Core activities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop pricing strategies in accordance with HQ PMA guidelines and set optimal list and net prices to ensure that planned reimbursement and market access can be achieved
  • Proactively support the development of global pricing strategies by providing input to HQ  PMA
  • Lead the pricing strategy and possible pricing negotiation process, through extensive scenario planning, stakeholder management and medical scientific and health economic rationalization.


Engage and negotiate with key stakeholders on a national level to create a favorable market access environment

Core activities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare authorities, payers, policy makers, and other organizations and scientific societies influencing the access, on a national and level to create favorable market access conditions for Daiichi Sankyo brands
  • Engage in negotiations with key national stakeholders to ensure Daiichi Sankyo products achieve favorable reimbursement conditions that are in line with the set price strategy
  • Conduct post-negotiation win/loss reviews with the rest of the Market Access team
  • Engage with and expand relationships Wholesalers to understand and manage local pricing and supply dynamics


Act as primary contact for DSE and MSC Headquarters on national Product Market Access (PMA)

Core activities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide input to HQ PMA Managers to ensure local market-specific requirements are accounted for in HQ PMA strategy
  • Effectively engage with Market Access HQ functions to provide insights to strategic plans, global value stories and value messages and ensure alignment with HQ PMA plan
  • Act as Market Access point person for own affiliate
  • Ensure the filing of the new products of Medicine and the Ministry of Health
  • Assist HQ PMA on projects and supports the creation of international strategies to maximize market access outcomes


Government Affairs - Contribute in shaping the health care environment and Health Care Policy

Core activities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifies, analyses, and acts on legislative initiatives and emerging issues that could impact Daiichi Sankyo.
  • Shapes the policy environment in partnership with the policy makers to deliver Daiichi Sankyo’s strategic priorities.
  • Identifies and communicates commercial business issues and opportunities on an ongoing basis to the Leadership Team and contributes to the overall brand/marketing strategy.
  • Serves as an internal thought leader on legislative and environmental matters at the strategic level.
  • Works with Brand teams to integrate government affairs strategies into Daiichi Sankyo brand plans (marketed and pipeline).
  • Works directly with commercial and sales leadership to implement business strategies in response to legislative/policy challenges and opportunities.
  • Represents Daiichi Sankyo at VIG and other stakeholder meetings.
  • Co-ownership of the most senior relationships with government officials and leverages these to influence policy and legislative developments in the most favorable manor.





  • University degree in (Health) Economics, Health Sciences, or Pharma or related discipline 
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in market access or health economics in the pharmaceutical industry or related organisation with a comprehensive understanding of the Dutch pricing and reimbursement environment and the government/payer review process 
  • Dutch mother tongue and fluent in English, both oral and written communications 



  • Experience in public relations and government affairs 
  • Experience in one or more of the following positions: sales, marketing or medical 
  • Ability to review and analyse business and medical data 
  • Proven Project Management Skills   
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills 
  • Analytical  
  • Ability to influence and persuade both internal and external stakeholders 
  • Flexible team member with positive and proactive attitude  
  • Very good internal and external communicator 
  • Skilful with Office programs
