The Position 

The Sr. Country Medical Manager provides leadership to the full span of the CV Medical team of DSNL in accordance with relevant ethical and legal rules. The Sr. Country Medical Manager leads 2 Medical Advisors, 1 Medical Information Manager and a Head of MSLs, which leads again 4 directly reporting MSLs. The Sr. Country Medical Manager must demonstrate mastery and innovation in the ability to develop and drive medical and scientific support for Daiichi Sankyo initiatives in selected therapeutic areas to internal and external stakeholders.  

The Sr. Country Medical Manager is tasked with executional excellence in all dimensions of the  Medical CV Team DSNL. This spans from optimal performance of the Medical Advisors and their contributions to medical leadership to Marketeers and MSLs, to securing consistently good Medical Information work, to effectively leading the MSL Head driving the MSL team in optimal KEE management and internal x-functional operations.  

The Sr. Country Medical Medical is the final accountable for full compliant NL Medical, Marketing & Sales materials, and medical operations incl. scientific development, review, approval, execution and communication of DSE/MSC medical affairs sponsored/supported clinical research activities, National & Regional Medical tactics CV, incl Medical launch plans Nilemdo Nustendi.  


The Sr. Country Medical Manager reports directly to the Country Manager DSNL and will have a dotted functional line to the Head of Medical Affairs Specialty Medicine MSC. 

Technical/Professional Knowledge: 

Essential –  

  • A scientific (Masters at minimum) degree in one or more of the following disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, nursing or pharmaceutical/life sciences.  

  • Experience in people management of at least 4 years is required. 

  • Ability to perform effortlessly as a member of the Leadership Team of a small affiliate with a can do attitude and a strong sense of leadership and presence displayed at all times. 

  • Experience of working in a similar field based role, clinical research or other similar role where you have strong evidence of leading healthcare professional interactions. Experience of presenting complex scientific information to HCPs at varying levels including Thought Leaders 

  • Strong commercial acumen, facilitating the strategic alignment of company goals and achievement of target with KOL activities, ensuring that KOL/OL interactions are approached in a manner and direction which facilitates the overall company objectives.  

  • Ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new therapy areas and environments. 

  • Knowledge of the Dutch Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of the CGR code and Dutch regulations. Strong conceptual analytical capabilities able to oversee and manage a multitude of various projects, trends and stakeholders. 

  • Full driving licence 

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software products 


Desirable – 

  • A PhD is preferred. 

  • Experience of working in the cardiovascular market 

  • Advanced presentation skills
