The position:

In this position, you would work with multi-disciplinary scientists (simulation specialists, pharmacists, chemical engineers, analytical chemists) to develop and apply computational tools for process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for different pharmaceutical unit operations. You would continuously learn new computational tools/methods to perform process simulations (mechanistic, physics-based, data-driven) relevant for development and production scale processes. You are supposed to work independently on defined problems and develop/apply computational tools to solve issues. You would prepare detailed timelines including milestones for execution and report the progress to superiors. Discussing with other simulation specialists and other relevant scientists for necessary simulation model establishment is considered to be key. You would work with other project teams closely. Constantly acquiring new state-of-the-art techniques in process simulations relevant to pharmaceutical processes is a prerequisite.

Key responsibilities:

  • Learning and implementing state-of-the-art innovative experimental and simulation techniques related to various unit operations
  • Developing prediction models based on various computational tools/methods such as computational fluid dynamics, population balance models, mechanistic models, etc.
  • Determination of phyisco-chemical properties of materials that are necessary for simulations (input parameters, validation, etc.)
  • Performing numerical simulations based on the fundamentals to address the challenge(s) related to pharmaceutical unit operations
  • Conducting experiments on lab-scale and pilot-scale machines as well as custom designed instruments
  • Work in an international team and be part of global working teams
