To lead the country market access and external affairs activities for the DSUK SBU portfolio. 


Accountabilities / Measures:


1.    Customer centric External affairs and NHS policy planning and implementation

•    Strategic leadership on the development of a comprehensive integrated DSUK government affairs tactical plan to support enhanced customer experience 
•    Lobbying with key senior political and  NHS policy stakeholders to drive Daiichi Sankyo’s business objectives
•    Planning and implementation of an external corporate communications strategy aligned with government affairs strategy and tactics
•    Influence, build and manage external relationships with NHS stakeholders at national, regional and local level 
•    Consistently communicate key policy messages to decision makers and parliamentarians
•    Participate in high-level industry groups to identify and engage with key stakeholders


2.    Develop and implement National, Regional and local market access strategy, framework and tactics to ensure optimal market access for product portfolio 

•    Ensure an in depth and up-to-date understanding of UK Health policies on pricing and market access and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders
•    Identify, map and share all relevant access processes and Develop country Market Access Plans 
•    Foster cross-functional collaboration so all key stakeholders understand and are able to develop and execute the access & commercial plans. 
•    Provide direction to and develop access materials (e.g. budget impact models) to support CFR to optimize local market access
•    Put in place robust processes and structures to ensure effective governance
•    Establish effective processes to monitor and share relevant market and competitor data 


3.    Develop and Manage External Stakeholder Plans and Relationships

•    Responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders and being the Daiichi Sankyo point of contact for national and regional health technology assessment bodies such as e.g. NICE, SMC, AWMSG, and horizon scanning bodies
•    Build and maintain relationships with key NHS stakeholders/payors that are responsible for healthcare decisions in the relevant therapeutic areas, e.g. NHS England 
•    Ensure an in depth understanding of evolving NHS customers including their organisational and financial objectives and  commissioning processes and providers
•    Delivers impactful face to face and group interactions with key NHS influencers through conversational and compelling argumentation based on the Daiichi Sankyo value proposition
•    Assess and maximise market access opportunities for DS portfolio


4.    Provides Expertise into the Development of Commercial Programmes, Dispensing Deals, Rebates and Patient Access schemes at the National and Regional level

•    Assesses the market access potential of the DS products and rolls out a national and regional strategy to ensure maximization of market access chances accordingly
•    Responsible for developing regional and local commercial models e.g. budget impact models that demonstrate the clinical and cost effectiveness of Daiichi Sankyo products
•    Develop tailored access solutions in order to ensure optimal national and regional access
•    Ensures training programs are in place as well as materials to ensure the  Customer facing roles are well equipped for their interactions with external stakeholders


5.    Execution and implementation of the European Market Access Strategy in the UK by leading the HTA submissions for the Daiichi Sankyo Specialty portfolio

•    Lead and coordinate the dossier development and submissions (NICE, SMC, AWMSG) including price notifications, patient access schemes and Managed Access Agreements if applicable. 
•    Ensure timely development/customization and of the cost-effectiveness/Budget impact model
•    Identify and enable delivery of data required to build value propositions and populate economic models
•    Lead RWE generation, in close collaboration with regional HQ


6.    Compliance with the ABPI Code of Practice and Daiichi Sankyo Policies and procedures 
•    Abide by the requirements of the current ABPI Code of Practice including but not restricted to maintaining high professional standards of conduct, in line with Company policies and procedures, with a duty of care to the reputation of the Company


Technical/Professional Knowledge:



•    Significant demonstrable experience (> 10 years) within a pharmaceutical company in an UK national market access /external affairs role with at least 2 years in leadership roles or similar 
•    In-depth understanding of the NHS environment, HTA processes and established relationships with key external stakeholders at all levels (national, regional and local)
•    Experience in representing at high-level industry forums, e.g. ABPI
•    Proven ability to establish and build relationships with key decision-makers in the NHS 
•    Proven ability to successfully work within a matrix environment 
•    Strong project management skills
•    Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills
•    Strategic mind-set and hands-on
•    Collaborative, committed and courageous 
•    University degree 
•    Positive can-do attitude 




•    Ideally has an MBA or PHD qualification
•    Experience operating at Director level 
•    Development of a broad network of professional contacts both in the UK and other international markets.
